The Short Answer

To use an AI assistant with FlowPOS, a merchant needs two things:

  1. A FlowPOS Pro plan — starting at Q500/month
  2. An AI assistant subscription — approximately Q154/month (~$20 USD)

That's it. No technical setup fee, no integration cost, no per-query charges.

AI Assistant Options

All three major AI assistants support FlowPOS MCP connections. They are priced almost identically at the consumer tier.

AI AssistantMonthly price (USD)Monthly price (est. GTQ)Annual price (USD)
Claude Pro (Anthropic)$20/month~Q154$204/year ($17/mo)
ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI)$20/month~Q154$240/year
Gemini Advanced (Google)$19.99/month~Q154~$240/year

Exchange rate used: ~Q7.7 per USD. Prices subject to change.

Which AI Assistant Should I Recommend?

All three work with FlowPOS. But they are not equal in terms of how easy they are to set up and use for a non-technical merchant.

Claude has the cleanest and most reliable MCP experience of the three. Remote MCP server connections are a native feature of the Pro plan — no developer mode, no manual setup per session, no technical configuration. A merchant connects once in Claude settings, and it works across all conversations from that point forward.

Claude also tends to automatically detect when calling a FlowPOS tool would be useful, without the merchant needing to specify it explicitly. That makes the experience feel natural rather than technical.

Since FlowPOS's MCP server is built on Anthropic's protocol, Claude is the AI client it has been most directly optimized to work with.

ChatGPT Plus — Works, but more friction

ChatGPT supports MCP connections, but currently requires enabling Developer Mode for each new chat session — a step that is unintuitive for non-technical users. The connection works well once set up, but the repeated friction may discourage regular daily use, which is where the real value is.

Gemini Advanced — Works, more developer-oriented

Gemini has strong MCP support, particularly for developers and Google Workspace users. For a merchant using the Gemini consumer app without a technical background, connecting to a custom MCP server like FlowPOS requires more setup than Claude. Capable, but not the smoothest out-of-the-box experience.

The "They Already Pay For This" Angle

A growing number of business owners already subscribe to one of these AI assistants for other purposes — writing emails, drafting proposals, researching suppliers. If a merchant already has a Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini subscription, connecting it to FlowPOS costs them nothing additional on the AI side. The only upgrade needed is the FlowPOS Pro plan.

This reframes the conversation entirely:

"You're already paying for the AI. We just need to connect it to your business data."

Putting the Cost in Context

For a merchant who does not yet have an AI assistant subscription, Q154/month is the additional cost. That is worth contextualizing:

Q154/month is less than...Approximate cost
One hour of an accountant's timeQ200–Q400/hr
One unexpected stockout on a top productQ500–Q2,000+ in lost sales
Two team lunchesQ150–Q200
One month of a basic bookkeeping serviceQ300–Q600

If the AI assistant prevents one stockout per quarter, it has paid for itself — with three months of AI access left over as pure gain.

Setup — How Simple Is It?

For Claude Pro (the recommended option):

  1. Merchant upgrades to FlowPOS Pro plan
  2. Merchant signs up for Claude Pro at claude.ai ($20/month)
  3. In Claude settings, they add FlowPOS as a connected MCP server using the URL and their FlowPOS credentials
  4. They authorize the connection (OAuth consent screen — takes under a minute)
  5. Done — they can now ask Claude questions about their business

No code. No technical knowledge required. The OAuth consent screen shows exactly what FlowPOS data Claude can access, and the merchant can revoke it at any time with one click.
